Drainage of Roads and Highways
How can traffic safety and noise control be combined?
The widening of motorways not only requires widening the road , but also adapting the surface drainage to the new requirements. A special channel is required f.e. where porous asphalt (PA) is used as the top layer (surface course) for noise control reasons which can take in the surface water that infiltrates through the road surfacing.
What can be done with surface water?
Discharge in robust channels and gullies
Climate change means increasingly longer dry periods. Litter, leaves and petals accumulate at the motorway boundaries. If heavy rainfall occurs, dirt and contaminants carried along by the water are washed towards the road gully. The risk of accidents f.e caused by aquaplanning is minimised by ACO DRAIN® channels and ACO gully tops and ACO road gullies.
